"Briter" Future
The idea for A BRITER FUTURE was brought to BRITE by a donor from Los Angeles, USA who has a huge heart for helping the youth in Haiti. He had been sponsoring two students in Haiti through a non-profit organization for many years, however upon turning 18 the youths were automatically ousted from the program and could no longer be sponsored and received the needed support to continue their Education. This is when the sponsor reached out to us to see how we could help the 2 young people he was sponsoring and extend the program to other individuals. Many organizations operating in Haiti provide very fragmented and/or punctual help, often to respond to a catastrophe. Though that type of help has its place, we believe in order to have a real impact in the lives of the people we serve, we must have a holistic and sustained approach.
This program will help us develop a relationship and “go the distance” with some individuals who would otherwise not have the financial, social and emotional support to become self-sufficient and productive members of their society. Potential candidates will be screened and put in a pool. Individuals will be added to the program when a sponsor has been obtained for them. Sponsors for this program will commit to long term support for their sponsee until they “graduate” from the program. We are very excited to start feeling the impact of this program. We hope you will join us in making a true difference.
