Health Fairs
For the residents of Rodaille, the nearest hospital is over an hour and a few rivers away and in most cases they do not have the money to go see a doctor for regular checkups. Therefore, the only time many of them see a doctor is when they are seriously ill. This might not only cost them their life but it financially burdens their family. The first year the school started functioning we noticed that many of the students were suffering from skin diseases such as ringworms and complained of stomach aches due to parasites. One child wore a hat and would not remove it for weeks until we realize that his entire head was covered with painful sores. BRITE wanted to not only deal with these issues but make sure that our students and the community members had access to medical care and receive a yearly checkup.
We conducted our first health fair in 2011. Since then, we have had a health fair once a year except for 2012 due to lack of sponsorships. Our goal as an organization is to have a health fair at least once a year. Message us for more information. We are always seeking health care professionals who would like to donate their time and skills.
